A breakdown of my weekend spending:
Last-minute peak-season ocean-view room: $100
Tank of gas: $30
Groceries for dinner and picnics, including wine: $70
Late-night grocery store run for beer and gummy worms: $10
Coffee and breakfast for morning beach walk: $10
Total: $220
Split between two people: $110 each
I don't think that's a crazy amount of money for two days away, but it's certainly more than I would have spent if I had stayed in town (I'm guessing it would have been more like $30 if I'd stayed here - $10 on coffee, and $20 on dinner one night). Once a month, spending $100 on travel falls squarely within what the Bundle data says my demo spends on travel, but I think every other month seems like a good goal. That means just saving $50 each month toward a weekend away. And if I forgo my allotted mini-break for a few months, that's $200 that can go toward a longer stay - or a more exotic locale. Canada, anyone?
How much did your last mini-break cost you? (In May, Moriah went to the beach in South Carolina and spent $151.)
