The cost of a day at the rodeo Food & Drink, Shopping Kate Shellnutt / 05:59 AM, Wednesday, March 10, 2010 / / Report this / Vote this up / 0

‘Tis the season for country concerts, deep-fried everything and food on a stick.

Here’s the spending during last March, when the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo was held in this zip code in Southwest Houston. It’s one of those events locals say you have to go to, but it’s not cheap.

Here’s a sample of what a day at the rodeo could cost you:

- $12 parking
- $30 for a cheap seat to watch mutton-bustin’, bull-ridin’ and Rascal Flatts
- $8 sliced beef sandwich, $8 beer, $5 fried Oreos
- $15 in games, carnival rides

That’s over $75 right there. (And most parking and concert tickets run much higher.)

I'm headed out to my first rodeo this weekend, but can't afford to spend that much!
