MainStreet.com recently ranked America's 50 states in order of "happiest economic conditions." The Happiness Index takes into account a mix of macro- and micro-economic factors, and North and South Dakota placed high -- eighth and fifth, respectively. A South Dakota perk is no personal income tax or property tax, and North Dakota boasts the country's lowest unemployment rate at 4.4%.

When it comes to Bundle spending data, they're neck-in-neck as well. The average South Dakotan outspent her northern neighbor by only 6% ($2826-$2644) in Oct. Interestingly, North Dakotans are the bigger shoppers. They spend 4% of the monthly total on Shopping compared to the 2% of SD. Does less shopping lead to more happiness?
