This week in your wallet: The economy's healing, hiring picks up, and I can fly a helicopter with my iPhone!

Happy New Year! Belated! And bad times, begone. It turns out this was a reasonably generous holiday season, in spite of the efforts of the economy and some Scroogey professors to play Grinch (+$2.9) . Crystal-ball time: What does 2010 hold? Hiring, for starters. That's good news, but it was rapidly followed by the grimmer news that less than half of us are satisfied with our jobs, which was contradicted by more data saying, no, we do like our jobs. My head is spinning (-$11) . Yes, my smug renter friends, home sales are still in the tank. Fingers crossed, that might not affect the recovery after all (-$16) . Seeking a better deal and much more personal service, thousands of Americans (dozens? Who knows?) seem to be considering moving their money to community banks. Good idea? Bad idea? (+22) . Winter blues already? Well, start planning your vacation. (+10) . The movies really aren't getting any cheaper, are they? At $29 a pop, that movie ticket better be golden. Especially when I can kick back at home, with my Google phone and my iPhone-controlled helicopter while I watch basketball in 3-D. Happy new year indeed, sports fans! (+$29)

Total: +36.9. My savings resolution is right on track.
