extended unemployment benefits and health care coverage. And there's more relief on the way, in the form of a $154 billion
jobs package. Maybe this recession really
is ending (+$154) ... For the 4,000 homeowners facing eviction and foreclosure, Citigroup
suspended the process through Jan. 17. Better than not, I guess (+$4) ... For procrastinators and online shoppers: it's
free shipping day! Where's my debit card (+$16.60) ... Oh, but it's not all sugarplums.
Utility shutoffs are up 5% (-$5), and a new Department of Education estimate suggests that more
student loans are in default than they thought, especially at for-profit colleges (we're talking about you, University of Phoenix; -$40) ... Two other things less appealing than dried fruitcake this Yuletide:
