It's Bundle's Bring Your Lunch to Work Contest! Prizes! Celebrity Judges! Sandwich Baggies!
Our special report on America's food & drink spending confirmed, with hard data, what most of us already suspected: People who tend to spend more on groceries save money on food overall.
Which means, brown-bagging it may be one of the most money-saving-est habits you can develop. But in our quest to inspire adult lunch-bringers, we found all these ideas ... for kids. PB&J's with the crusts cut off? Carrot sticks? A freaking juice box? Give me a break. If the brown bag can ever hope to compete with the falafel/burger/sushi joint down the block, we're going to need some serious adult inspiration.
This is why we're launching the first-ever Bundle Bring Your Lunch to Work contest. At some point in the next three weeks, bring your lunch to work. Post a picture of it on our Facebook page, or share your story on Bundle. The crowds will vote for their favorites, and winners will be chosen by our distinguished panel of judges:
*Ben Leventhal, editor of NBC Feast and founder of Eater.com.
*Food52.com editors Amanda Hesser and Merrill Stubbs
*Top Chef's Spike Mendelsohn and his fiancee, Apron Anxiety blogger Alyssa Shelasky
*Midtown Lunch founder Zach Brooks
The best entries will win a limited-edition Bundle lunchbox. And best of all, you'll save some money. Join the Bringers!
Here's what to submit:
A photo of your best brown-bag lunch, uploaded to our Facebook page. Tell us what's in it, how much it cost (roughly), and anything else you want us to know.
Or...
Post a story about your homemade lunch on Bundle.com. To indicate it's a contest entry, please include "My lunch" in the title.
How it will work:
*We'll collect entries from 5/12 to 5/28. No entries will be considered after 11:59pm, 5/28.
*Readers will be able to "Vote up" their favorite entries on Bundle.com, and/or to "like" their favorite entries on Facebook
*Winners will be announced on 5/30 and notified via an announcement on Bundle and Facebook
The Prizes:
From the most popular submissions, our judges will choose four winners. Each will receive a limited-edition Bundle lunchbox, as well as the admiration and appreciation of the world at large.
