How to eat well and save money

It's no secret that the cheapest food in our world is also generally the least healthy; it's the reality television of the culinary world — it costs nothing and it tastes good at the time, but it offers nothing substantial to the consumer. Thus, most of us find ourselves trying to strike a balance between eating well and saving money. Can it be done? Yes, in a variety of ways.

(Note: "Eat less" might be a fair bit of advice to help anyone get into shape and save money but it's not universally applicable so, I'm leaving that one out.)
