From BundleHQ: When do you still use cash instead of credit?
See the star trailers parked outside our office building? Rumor has it they're filming a romantic comedy starring — guess. No, really. Guess. — Kate Hudson! Kate, if you're reading this, swing by BundleHQ today and we'll talk about your grocery budget.
The magic number: It turns out we'd all like to be at least a little bit rich, but what does that even mean? Yesterday Emma wrote that she told a friend she'd feel rich if she made $40,000, which sent said friend into hysterical laughter. But, okay, instructive! Ideas about how much is "enough" or "a lot" are constantly shifting - often in relation to how much we actually have. So it's good, from time time time, to take your own temperature. How much do you need, or want? And how does that compare to your magic number a year or two ago? What happened, and what changed?
Groshhheries? Can't we jush get more beer? In Wilmette, IL, one of America's spendiest suburbs, Binny's Beverage Depot is one of the top merchants for groceries among young men, beating out stores where you can buy actual food and not just beer nuts. So now we know: behind those manicured lawns and long driveways ... kegger!
Reduce, reuse: Kate wanted to know what we're reusing. Dinner plates as plant trays, cookie tins for jewelry, and magazine covers for gift wrap. (Take that, iPad!)
Oh, Facebook, how you torture us: Mike reported yesterday that all that oversharing might turn out to be expensive, Moriah linked to Wired's scathing critique of the site's recent moves, and now Bundle pal SavvySugar notes that creditors might start using your Facebook information to judge your credit-worthiness. Excuse me while I go double-check my privacy settings.
Question of the day: When do you use cash? When do you use credit?
