From BundleHQ: The answer is $17.75. So what's your question?
Good morning, everyone. Do you like totally hip social sites with missing vowels? Us too! If you're into Tumblr, follow us over there. Here's what else is happening:
Where — I mean, WHAT — to buy a baby: Kate has just hit that wonderful age where the first of her friends have started having babies. That kind of milestone causes a young woman to pause, reflect, and ask searching questions, including "What kind of gift should I buy?" Bundle parent Mark offered some guidance: Yes to shower gifts; no, you don't have to spend more than $25; when in doubt, baby wipes are a better gift than a childless adult could ever imagine.
It could be sweet: I once met a young woman who sent out her resume with a can of nuts with a custom-printed label that said, "You'd be nuts not to hire me!" She also did it with candy bars: "Wouldn't it be sweet to work together?" Now, that's not my style (and I kind of hope it's not yours, either-no offense. wait, yes, offense), but Presh reports that people have gotten creative about their resume-promotion tactics, including running a hot-dog stand in order to hand out resumes. I guess it's better than cutting-and-pasting into a million e-fields, which can feel like slow death by creeping futility.
Fun times: Yesterday we released our Travel and Leisure report, a look at how Americans spend on life's little indulgences, like travel, cable and satellite services, and entertainment. Or, as Kathy Kristof suggested, the couch-potato index. Justin suggested that politicians might be driving up travel spending in Arlington, Va. And Megan noted that apparently the cheap Megabus routes running to and from Chicago and New York aren't enough to drive down travel spending in those cities quite yet.
Chart o' the morning to you! Bundle has a new data pal in the blog team over at iCharts. In commemoration of this week's Travel & Leisure report, they've offered up this visualization (via the WSJ) showing which airlines are best at redeeming frequent-flier miles. Below, you can see the percentage of requests for awards seats that each airline is able to fulfill, according to a study by the research firm IdeaWorks. Southwest is the big winner in this category, with 99.3 percent of award requests filled. Air Berlin followed with 98.6 percent, so for those of you reading Bundle in Germany (or Bundle, as we're known there), that's worth keeping in mind.
Answer of the day: In honor of Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan (hang in there, LiLo!), we're making this a Freaky Friday. Instead of asking a question, we're giving you the answer: $17.75. You tell us: What's the question? Comment or tweet: #1775
