The majority of high school and junior high students owned a laptop, and around 10% of all students had a tablet device of some kind, such as an iPad.
And beyond updating their Facebook and Twitter profiles, students are using mobile tech to enhance their educations. For example, the same survey found that 74% of students use their mobile devices to check grades; 68% conduct school research; 59% take notes in class; 53% collaborate with friends; and 44% access online textbooks.
